Book Review: The Mackay MBA of Selling in the Real World
For some the term MBA is connected with a degree of esteem and accomplishment. For more creative type business owners who learned how to run a successful business through on the job training – the term MBA doesn’t hold much value. And then there are those that think of MBA and immediately conjure up images of excel spreadsheets, flow charts and complex business plans.
In his book The Mackay MBA of Selling in the Real World, the term MBA takes on a different meaning which I dub Motivational Business Advice. I’ve read Harvay Mackay articles and books before so I was hoping that he would keep the same conversational and to the point style in this book – he does. Each chapter can be easily digested in 2-3 minutes (perfect for small business owners short on time). And each snippet is full of the insights and ideas that I’ve come to appreciate from Mr. Mackay.
Don’t be fooled, the stories, quotes, and calls to action in this book aren’t just focused on sales and numbers. In fact if you hate selling – this is the perfect resource because it covers motivation, confidence, and strategy all things that an entrepreneur needs to have if they are going to be successful in business. And in typical Mackay style you find practical ideas without jargon and convoluted business buzz words. He’s on top of his game as usual as a master storyteller on a mission. In my opinion: mission accomplished.
