Success is all about what you choose to see. It amazes me sometimes that two people can look at the same situation, and because of what they choose to focus on, they can either come out on top or set themselves up for regret.
There are plenty of people with ideas for part-time businesses. They might even have a million dollar idea. But because all they can see is the hard work and the gaps between where they want to be and where they are now, they never take the steps to turn their idea into reality.
On the other hand there are those that have trained their intentions and mind’s eye to look for opportunities to launch their business. And because they have chosen to work the opportunities available to them rather than allow obstacles to deter them, guess what keeps showing up?
I recently spoke at a leadership conference for a well-known university here in the Twin Cities. A colleague of mind was amazed that I’d landed the opportunity and wanted to know how I got it, because she’s been here all her life and has always wanted to and never got to and on and on….I’m sure you know people with that kind of story – where they never seem to get what they want. I got the opportunity through the sister of one of the women in a single moms group I used to be a part of. I was asked to help the women’s leadership group with social media, and that opened the door for me to be referred as a speaker for another event, and then another.
When I relocated to Minnesota a few years ago, I could have let the fact that I knew no one here be an obstacle to growing my business. Instead I looked for every opportunity to build a solid professional network with women of influence and vision. As I worked each opportunity aligned with my vision, another appeared, then another…
In today’s pep talk, I encourage you to look for your opportunities, priming the motivation pump with these affirming statements:
Exciting opportunities abundantly appear in my life.
New opportunities surround me every day. All I need to do is recognize them and take the leap of faith. I have an abundance mindset that keeps my mind open to these new opportunities.
I greet each morning with excitement and anticipation for the opportunities coming my way. I give thanks for my blessings and the good this day will bring. I actively search for the good in my day, often finding beautiful, hidden gems.
Living in the moment helps me recognize new opportunities. When I focus on the present, regrets of the past and worries of the future are not on my radar. I wisely explore every opportunity and take decisive action to seize the ones that bring me closer towards my vision and purpose.
My abundance mindset includes a healthy optimism that brings me confidence and helps me get over any hurdles in my path. When challenges arise, I expect that there is a solution and I proactively seek it out. I inevitably find it and continue happily toward my goal.
“Seize the day!” is my mantra today. I choose to look for those opportunities that I know will appear and then diligently pursue them with everything I have!
1. Am I expecting that opportunities will show up each day?
2. How will I keep my mind more open to new possibilities?
3. How will I encourage myself to take action on the opportunities I find?
