Many people dream of being a published author.
And with the surge in self-publishing tools and systems, this is a dream that many are able to make come true. But just because you are published and have your book listed on Amazon.com, that doesn’t mean you are profitable.
The secret to being a published and profitable author is marketing.
Writers who learn to think like an entrepreneur, or a better term to use here is authorpreneur, understand the value of marketing and promotion. In today’s self-publishing enabled world, there are very few publishing fairies to who with the wave of a wand will give you the “Beiber” experience: They will not find your book trailer on YouTube and offer you a six-figure contract for your first book. There are no all expense paid 12-city book tours for new authors without a proven ability to generate sales.
According to Vondell Richmond, creator of the Six-Figure Author Course, you’ve got to be willing to leave “author island” and become a marketer. In a recent Launch Talk episode, I intervie Vondell about tips, strategies and best practices which will help you build a business on top of your published book. Listen and learn how writers like Robert Kiyosaki (Rich Dad, Poor Dad), Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life), Dave Ramsey, and Jay Conrad Levinson earn residual income from a simple book title.

Note: As an employedpreneur, writing a book related to your business can shorten the time it takes your to go from employee to entrepreneur. Your well-written book gives you credibility with your target audience and allows you to generate passive income while you are still rocking a 9 to 5.
